Children and Adolescents
With children, Dr. Etkind works with presenting issues including anxiety, depression, anger management, behavioral challenges, stress management, self-esteem enhancement, coping skill development and refinement, and adjustment difficulties. Dr. Etkind has traditionally used a play therapy approach to help children feel more comfortable expressing themselves. She has extensive experience working with preschool and elementary school age children and their families. Dr. Etkind structures her sessions with youth and their families using a hybrid model, spending about half of each session working with the parent(s) to refine a variety of parenting skills, and about half of each session working directly with the child.
Adults
With adults, Dr. Etkind works with presenting issues including anxiety, depression, grief, stress management, self-esteem enhancement, coping skill development and refinement, and adjustment difficulties. She draws from a combination of CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and insight-oriented treatments in a manner tailored to best meet a client’s unique needs.
Parent Training
Dr. Etkind offers parent training either alone or in conjunction with child or adolescent treatment.
